A jet ski and the sea was a recurring theme for Chris and Emily’s stunning Tunnels Beaches wedding, I meet Chris down on the pier in Ilfracombe before heading up to see Emily as he and some mates were going for a quick jetski around the bay. Shame I forgot my wetsuit as a quick trip out would have been perfect but none the less it was great to capture some different groom prep images.
It was then off to see the girls up at a house above the venue, as always it was a stream of hair, make up and stuff going but it as ever it gave me a chance to get some great natural shots of the girls getting ready and some details shots of shoes, dresses and flowers etc.
The ads were getting ready next door so a quick hop over the wall and I was able to grab some frames of the lads before they headed down to the venue. Having been able to shoot both groom and bridal prep shots really adds a great narrative to the final set of images.
As a surprise for the bride, the groom had arranged for “Monty” the tunnels own VW camper to be her wedding vehicle to take the bridesmaids, the bride and her Dad to the venue. This was my first encounter with Monty and I am in love. Stunning and so perfect for the venue is all I can say.
The weather wasn’t the greatest on the day but it was certainly warm enough for an outdoor ceremony and wedding breakfast. As ever the setting for the ceremony is right on the edge over looking the sea, where else could be more perfect.
There are many things I love about the Tunnels as a wedding venue, in fact there are loads, but one thing I particularly love is the food here. The chefs do an amazing job and it never ceases to amaze me how consistently spot on the food always is. Chris and Emily had spared no expense on the food and it was quite possibly the finest spread I have seen to date, especially with the paella and tapas options for the evening buffet. I also have to mention Juicy Lucy’s amazing work on the cup cakes too. I have long been a fan of her work but again she seemed to pull out the stops for Chris and Emily with some the move creative and tasty cup ckaes I have sampled yet.
The evening entertainment was provided by a great 5 piece band and at one point one of the guests (who could sing, and sing well) joined the band for a couple for numbers to help dance the night away.
A couple of days after the wedding I got to meet up with the couple once more before they jetted off on honeymoon. One of the shots I thought would be a perfect end to the celebrations was of them on their jetski out in front of the Tunnels. Well as you can I got the shot and am very pleased I am with it too. I was also able to capture a little video from my gopro, which can be seen here.
Huge congratulations to Chris and Emily and thank you for letting be part of your amazing day and the jetski ride, although I am now finding myself browsing the ads for an affordable one.. I wish you both all the very best for the future.
