It was the last day in September but the weather was better than it had been all summer. Such a great day for a stunning wedding at the Tunnels beaches in Ilfracombe and I was honoured to be part of Stuart and Sam’s big day. I hadn’t meet Sam before the day as I originally meet Stuart at a wedding show in March earlier this year. I was slightly apprehensive on the day as I drove to Croyde to shoot the bridal prep shots. But 5 mins in the company of Sam, her friends and family, I just knew today was going to be a great wedding. The rest of the day went equally as smooth and with the weather we had it was a real bonus. With the night drawing in we shot the sunset portrait shot on the roof of the Tunnels venue, whilst the guests waited down below for the BBQ to be served. As sunset was earlier it meant the guests dine at dusk and the speeches were held outside in near darkness. Thankfully with the ISO up high and some fast galls on my camera I used what natural light was left to capture the speeches. Tricky but worth it. All summer with other couples we have spoke about / tried / given up / failed to get lanterns lit and in the sky. Thankfully with an off shore wind and plenty of lighters, tonight we managed it.
What a way to end an amazing summer of fantastic weddings at this stunning unique venue. I can’t wait to be back there in 2012 and shoot many more weddings there.
