I think the one thing about shooting weddings for me is the unpredictability of the day. Anything can and does happen. The weather for example is one key element you have no control over so you just have work with what you have and adapt.
Sophie and Tim’s beautiful Woolacombe Winter wedding in early December is a prime example of such changeable conditions.
Both Sophie and Tim work outdoors for the National Trust so no strangers to the elements but I wish the best weather for my clients. Through out the day the rain fell and the sun threatened to show it’s face. After the ceremony it was lashing down and a break in the weather seemed a distant fantasy but that didn’t put the couple off doing what they wanted to and head to the beach. So with umbrellas in hand we set off.
As soon as we set foot on the beach the rain stopped and the skies started to clear leaving us with some of the most amazing colours I have seen for ages..
After this stroll on the beach it was back to the ever amazing Woolacombe Bay Hotel for the meal and the evening reception.
Sophie and Tim weren’t keen on a confetti arch so opted for an amazing pathway of guests holding sparklers. Not an easy shot to get using natural light only but I am super pleased with the results as I know the couple are too..
So much so shortly after sending them their images I received this amazing feedback.
“We both just wanted to say a huge thank you. We found you were very open to our ideas and the quality and creativity of your work was exactly what we wanted. Matt you are both friendly and very easy to talk to, you put us both at ease on our very special day.
You captured every special moment without being imposing and without any of the staged photos we didn’t want. We now have a wonderful record that we shall cherish forever. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending you.”
Thank you guys for that, I wish you both all the very best for the future.
